Estate clearance in Mosman

When a parent's house has to be cleared, the house is rarely the hard part. This page is here so that one thing, at least, can be simple: what happens, in what order, and how slowly it can go.

At your pace, start to finish

Some families are ready in a week. Others need the house to sit quietly for months while probate works through, and to visit it a few more times before anything moves. Both are normal, and we work either way. Nothing is scheduled until you ask for a date.

Houses here tend to have been held a long time, sixty years is not unusual, and a house held that long holds a great deal. We've learned to treat all of it as significant until someone who loved the person says otherwise.

How a clearance works

  1. One conversation

    You tell us what's ahead, as much or as little as you want. If you're an executor working from interstate, or a solicitor arranging things for a family, that works too.

  2. The walk-through

    We come to the house with you, or with whoever is representing the family, and go room by room. The fee for the whole clearance is fixed here, in writing, before anything is touched.

  3. Setting aside

    Photographs, letters, papers and deeds, jewellery, medals, anything the family wants found: these are gathered first, boxed, and handed to you. If we find something significant that nobody mentioned, it goes in the box, not the truck.

  4. The clearance

    Then, and only then, the house is cleared. Furniture with life left in it is offered for reuse where we can; the rest is sorted and taken to a licensed transfer station. The crew works quietly, without hurry.

  5. Left ready

    Every room swept, windows shut, the key returned to whoever holds it. Ready for the agent, the tenant, or simply to be still for a while.

We won't ask you to decide anything on the spot, and you won't find prices on this page or a countdown anywhere near it. We look first, quietly, and the figure is fixed before anything moves.

If the estate leads to a sale, we can carry the same care through to the campaign: the presentation clearance is the other half of what we do, and the two jobs are often the same house a few months apart.
